Sliding Guided Spherical Bearing
Gantek Sliding Guided Spherical Bearings are a type of bridge bearing designed to accommodate horizontal movements in a single direction—either transverse (perpendicular) or longitudinal (parallel) to the bridge axis—while restricting movement in the other direction. The unidirectional sliding capability is achieved through the incorporation of edge steel guides or rails that prevent lateral displacement, ensuring that the bearing can only slide along the intended path. Typically, these bearings feature a combination of stainless steel and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) sliding surfaces, which reduce friction and facilitate smooth movement under load. They are particularly suitable for applications where horizontal forces are expected to act predominantly in one direction, such as in curved or skewed bridge designs.
It's important to note that the horizontal load capacity of sliding guided spherical pot bearings is typically limited to approximately 10% of their vertical load capacity, making them most effective in scenarios where horizontal forces are relatively small. Gantek design engineers can customize these bearings to meet specific project requirements, ensuring optimal performance for each unique application.
